In our Yoga and Rock Trip we combine yoga and rock climbing to experience how we can improve mentally and physically in both activities. Beyond this, we get to experience how this combination carries into the rest of our life. On top of that let’s throw in a beach in the South of Thailand. Our retreat in Railay, Thailand coming up in February is meant to rejuvenate and replenish during those tough winter months.

This trip is built for the adventurous vacationer who needs a little more than laying on the beach (although we will do that too). During this Thai adventure, you will have the opportunity to practice yoga twice a day and fit in five full days of rock climbing. Railay and Ton Sai, Thailand are home to world class sport climbing on pristine limestone rock overlooking the ocean. We will stay in comfortable accommodation for seven nights within walking distance of the climbing and the beaches.

Professional rock climbing athlete and yogi, Olivia Hsu will be our yoga instructor for the trip. Olivia has an in-depth study of the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition having trained in Australia for several years and has continued advanced training and instruction in Boulder, Colorado. She actively shares her broad depth of yoga practice to the climbing community in the US and abroad. Olivia will instruct daily yoga sessions and climbing skills during the trip. Carey deVictoria-Michel will be your trip organizer to coordinate trip activities and instruct rock climbing. Four years ago Carey spent a month climbing and exploring the rock in Railay and Olivia spent years returning to climb Railay and Ton Sai as she progressed in her climbing.

During your Yoga and Rock Trip, you will be provided with accommodations at a comfortable resort in Railay, guidance from professional and certified rock climbing instructors, climbing equipment, daily yoga instruction, and three meals a day. (Airfare is not included.) For all rock climbing activities, we will have professional rock climbing guides from Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures and Real Rock Railay.

Experience Level:

The 8 Day Yoga and Rock Climbing Trip is open to climbers and yogis of all levels of experience. If you are new to climbing and yoga, our instructors will meet you where you’re at. For the more experienced, there will be many opportunities to push your boundaries. Yoga sessions will allow for plenty of personalized teaching. Rock climbing activities have a 3 to 1 guide to climber ratio to assure each climber can their goals.

Climate and Rock:

The temperatures in Railay and Ton Sai will average around 80 degrees. The tropical climate will still allow plenty of climbing and this trip is during the driest time of year there. Rock climbing is all on Limestone with many stalactites and tufas to play on. This area hosts hundreds of classic sport climbing routes to enjoy.

Giving Back:

FIgure 8 Rock Trips values giving back to the communities we rock climb in. Caring for and developing outdoor rock climbing areas takes a lot of work and resources. Each trip will fund a donation to locals to be able to buy equipment necessary to re-bolt routes, care for trails, or replace old anchors.

Simple Trip Agenda

THUR: Arrive and settle in. Meet the group and go out for Thai cuisine.

FRI: Morning yoga. Climb all day. Evening yoga.

SAT: Morning yoga. Climb all day. Evening yoga.

SUN: Morning yoga. Climb all day. Evening yoga.

MON: Rest day. Choose a relaxing activity to fill your day with.

TUES: Morning yoga. Climb all day. Evening yoga.

WED: Morning yoga. Climb all day. Evening yoga.

THUR: Relaxing morning with a short yoga session. Check out and say good-byes.

GUIDED ROCK CLIMBING

With a 3 to 1, client to instructor ratio, there will be ample time to grow in your climbing. Along with local guides, Olivia and Carey will instruct for our five days of rock climbing. All guides have professional experience to provide and help to improve in your skills and technique.

DAILY YOGA INSTRUCTION

Olivia Hsu will lead our yoga instruction each day. As a master yoga instructor and professional rock climber, she will teach how to improve in both realms.

MEALS INCLUDED

Breakfast will be shared at our accommodation each morning. Lunch will be brought to the crag, and we will enjoy dinner out in Railay or Ton Sai in the evenings.

NOT INCLUDED:

  • Airfare/travel to and from Chiang Mai, Thailand are not included in the expenses of the trip.

  • Individual travel insurance is not included in the expense of the trip. It is strongly recommended that travel insurance is purchased through dogtag.com/coverage with the ‘Dogtag Extreme’ coverage plan. More information will be provided after trip registration.
